The World Bank has launched an online open financial data portal in a bid to disseminate information on the projects it has been funding.

The portal provides an online platform through which information regarding loans, credits, grants and financial intermediary funds advanced by the international lender is made available.

South Africa’s MTN a leading telecommunications company has  announced the extension of its managed services agreement with Ericsson for its Ghana operations.  MTN operates in 21 African and Middle Eastern countries. Ghana’s  market is so far one of the fastest growing markets in Africa.

MTN is the premier operator in Ghana With 49% market share.  Last year alone MTN grew by 18% .  MTN boasts of having 49% of the market share. It serves over 10 million subscribers. Other players in the Ghana market include Airtel, Tigo and Vodafone.

Search giant Google this week announced the winners of the RISE grant in which the Company will give away in excess of $ 340,000 as support to organizations that are rooted in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and CS (computer science). The annual Google Roots in Science and Engineering (RISE) program supports organizations running innovative STEM and CS enrichment programs for students around the world.

Uganda will be among the first African countries to befenefit from the fund that's been extended to Sub Saharan Africa for the first time.
